DAAD Summer Schools in lead-up to World Conference

On the occasion of the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) will organize summer schools on Education for Sustainable Development. From 23 to 30 March 2009 the following selected German universities will hold the summer schools:

  • "Sustainable Development as Strategy and Aim of Higher Education" University of Lüneburg (pdf file)
  • "Poverty and Social Inequality in Education and their Impact on Sustainable Development", University of Kassel (pdf file)
  • "From Research to Practice: The Role of Education for Sustainable Development in Natural Resource Management in Research, Education and International Cooperation" University of Greifswald (pdf file)
  • "Sustainability in the organic chemistry lab course", Technical University of Braunschweig, supported by the University of Jena, the Technical University of München and the University of Bremen (pdf file)

A common project week, taking place during the week of 31 March to April 3 2009, will include presentations of the results at the project-based workshops at the "UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development – Moving into the Second Half of the UN Decade" in Bonn.

All interested alumni from developing countries may apply to the participating universities until 31 December 2008.
